My husband and I have been "stuck" - yes I say stuck because we haven't been able to sell it in 3 years - in a 2 bd, 2 bth condo that we bought haphazardly when we only had 2 kids. Then #3 came along, no sell, then #4 arrived, no sell and this place has only gotten smaller and more tight. With all of our ranting and raving about lack of space, no showings, no offers, no nothing, we were SO trying to see God's hand in this. That perhaps He was trying to keep us out of harms way by keeping us here? Perhaps the home that we have been dreaming of is not ready? Maybe it is not here in Illinois? Maybe it won't be a house for a long time? Most likely God sees something bigger ahead that if we knew about it we would go into shock. So He is requiring us to remain patient. Grateful and hopeful. To lean on Him. Hard though isn't it? When the waiting seems so hard to bare? My knees need a good kneeling honey let me tell you.

For nothing is impossible with God - but that doesn't mean that it will be in our timing.

God does know what He's doing. Will we wait long enough to find out?

Stopped from Sleepwalking

I've had an amazing moment of "awakening" today. I haven't realized what a sleepwalker I've become. Not in the sense of sleepwalking while I sleep, I mean sleep walking through my life. Through motherhood. I cannot imagine how many precious moments I've missed being "too busy" with work, drama, life, worries, 1st marriage, then 2nd marriage, "what ifs", "shoulda, coulda, woulda" I think to myself how sad...How terribly sad to say that I've overlooked so many of the blessings that I truly have.

Here's how this all came about - today. Yes, today.

I was looking through my website and emails when I received an updated facebook entry. So I go to check it, which leads me to another link, which leads me to another link with a great blog on motherhood, which lead me here: Kayleigh's Story

This story changed my life today. When people ask me "what is your conversion story?" I will mention today. (The first being approximately 7 years ago.)

I haven't cried like I cried today in a LONG time. I "woke up" to the realization of just how selfish I had been, ungrateful, angry and stupid I have been to have overlooked the LOVE I really have in my life. Nothing - NOTHING - matters anymore. Just my children and my wonderful husband. Money, things, circumstances, ignorant/arrogant people who've torn me down in the past, do not matter anymore. How clean my house is, how perfect my drawers are organized, how much business I draw in, doesn't matter. I am so blessed and I can't believe that although I've said it before, I never truly believed it until today. God filled me with a love today that I have not felt in I don't even know how long. I dropped everything and held my children. Josh 5, Ben 3, Sophia 8 mo and Imanni 13. I kissed them and told them how much I truly loved them. I then called my husband and told him that we can no longer waste a moment complaining about anything in our lives anymore. No matter what - we have eachother and we have our children.

Kaleigh has fought for her life, her parents have stood strong for her and I can rest assured that nothing NOTHING matters more to them than having their baby girl with them. My earnest prayers go out for them with all I have in me. I will make sure to keep them in prayer regularly. They have blessed me in such a huge way and I have never even met them.
Thank you for sharing your story and waking up this sleepwalking mother.

Ok - where do I start?

I needed a pair of boots - badly. Anyone who lives in Chicago during the winter or anywhere for that matter who has to live in snow knows that boots are a must. Well I haven't owned a pair of boots in a LONG time - don't ask me how I did without. I just made do I guess by going through a yearly ritual of thawing my toes out every now and then...

Anyway...I went to Woodfield mall yesterday on the hunt for a pair of "stylish" boots with full winter function. Hard to find! But I finally did find them! They were so cute AND on sale. Black, tall, just cute...well then my two boys fell in love with Cars Lightning McQueen & Tomater slippers (also on 50% sale) and then I found the perfect wallet for my husband for Christmas on sale too. He really needs one. His current wallet is begging to be put out of its misery.

Well - it all came out to $70. Not bad at all. But on a one income family of 5, $70 is not pocket change.

So I hang the bag off of the stroller excited about my super finds and was off onto the next adventure at the playarea. The kids were so excited and had a great time for an hour while I nursed baby Sophia. When all was done and they were moving like sloths because they were so exhausted, we left and went on over to Sears where I found an even cuter pair of boots! When I looked for my bag to compare the boots I had found at JcPenny, the bag....where's the bag? WHERE IS THE BAG!!! Someone lifted my bag off of my stroller while I sat with the kids at the playarea. Isn't that nice?

I walked the mall for over 1 1/2 hours hoping that I accidentally "dropped' the bag somewhere in the mall and didn't notice...no such luck. Then I remembered that I had hung the bag off of one of Sophia's teething rings that are made to hang off of her carseat handle. Well the ring wasn't on the stroller either - and THAT I had to stretch out to fit on the handle...sooooo the bag didn't fall off, it was pull off - TEETHING RING AND ALL.

I was robbed. Oh well what to do?

As I made my way back to where I left my kids with my girlfriend (Janice, love her!), I see...

little Benny (almost 3yrs old) saw me coming and started running towards me with a HUGE smile saying "Mommyyyyy!" Right there I KNEW that those things I purchased and lost didn't matter and I thanked God right then and there that I wasn't searching for one of my children! Oh I cannot tell you what a huge moment of gratitude I experienced. It was like a tsunami of thankfulness hit me.

I pray that the person that stole from me will find some conviction in their heart and ask for forgiveness - not from me though...I cannot save their soul. But from God. I have already forgiven them.

I found out also that I wasn't the only victim that day either...
